Coffee and Freebies

I’ve been into several coffeeshops lately, maybe because it’s been raining a lot these days.
Like the other day, after strolling at the mall, hubz, my niece and I, decided to have coffee at Krispy Kreme.

Krispy Kreme Green Lantern Doughnut and Caramel Chillers

I think, I would often this store because they are giving away Krispy Kreme goodies with their coffee passport promo. :-)

The Coffee Passport, A cup of Cappucino with the reusable sleeve    and Mango Kruffin

The Coffee Passport  that allows you to collect stamps on every coffee base purchase and get freebies at certain milestones.

I already completed 3 stamps which entitles me to have 6 original glazed doughnuts……                                                                                                                        Collecting 6 more will let you have KK collectible mug and lastly, collecting another 12 stamps, will make you happy with free 12 original glazed doughnuts. Ang saya….I am such a sucker on promos hahaha.

Another thing why I am liking Krispy Kreme more compared to other coffee shops is that they have this reusable cup sleeve that is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles.  It’s done tastefully  and actually has a nice feel to it.  I’m keeping one in my bag.  KK is giving rebates to those who reuse the sleeve on their next coffee order.  Re-use , recycle and get rebates. That is so awesome.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Bonding with Friends

Last Friday, after work, my friends and I went to Sta. Rosa Laguna to unwind after a tiring work week.

It was around 7 pm when we arrived Paseo de Sta. Rosa. Dj was waiting for us there since he works a few minutes away from Paseo.

One of my officemate who happens to live nearby suggested us to have dinner at Industry Bar and Resto.

It was my 2nd time there and what I love about this restobar is that they have vegetable on their menu like okra, ampalaya and calabasa flower.

Like this one….

A serving of Adobo flakes  and mashed talong beneath.

and this one is a serving of okra wrapped in lumpia wrapper. Yumm. :-)

We also had grilled pinakbet. Sorry I forgot to take photo.

Then  fried pla-pla with binurong kanin was served.

I love the pla-pla but not the burong kanin…not yet ready to taste it pa. lolz.

While some of my girlfriends had this beer tower,

I ordered a glass of frozen margarita.

The food was really good, filling and cheap.  If you love eating vegetable, I know you will love this place.

It was a fun evening with lovely acoustic music, good food and great friends.  :-)

 How was your weekend?

Say Cheese

I still have quezo de bola inside my fridge from last Christmas. So I’ve been adding it a lot in most of my weekend cooking like caldereta, pasta and pies.

Like last weekend, I added shredded quezo de bola over my  nachos and cheese sauce. Yumm…

The husband and I enjoyed watching our favorite tv show while munching these cheesy chips. Sarap nya in fairness. Kahit cheese lang on top. Plain, simple and good. :-)

Next time, will add ground beef and veggies to make it more yummy….oh men calories hahaha!

Nachos and cheese anyone?

Meet Cy

I remembered what Jo Avila said in one of his class photography lesson I attended before….always bring a camera with you.
Well, I am living with what he said. but since, I cannot bring my NK (DSLR) everyday, I opted to bring CJ (Canon Powershot) my p&s. I have this camera since 2008 and it’s been a great buddy until now. It’s still in top good shape and working perfectly. The only thing is, I find it a bit bulky. Sometimes, I left it at home and use my cellphone to take photos whenever I needed too.

See how bulky my p&s.

After 3 years, I decided to have another p&s. With hubz help, I decided to get a Sony W530. :)

Meet Cy
The camera is 14.1 megapixel, 26mm wide-angle lens. It’s  light, sleek and super-pocket friendly. It is easy on the eyes too. I got the silver one. I originally wanted a black one but changed my mind after an hour, hehehe.

With this new cam, it made me so happy!!!

Cannot wait to start clicking with this new baby. :-)

Loving and living

flower

It was a rainy weekend and according to PAG-ASA forecast, this week would be another rainy week.  I love summer but rainy season cast a wonderful spell on me whenever it’s here. I can smell the fresh sweet fragrance of the rain. It reminds me of the times that my two siblings and I were kids. We enjoyed it when it rains. We love-making paper boats and let it sail the rainfalls that overflow the streets. We enjoyed playing on the streets while the rain touches the ground.  Ah…my treasured memories as a kid.

I remembered if we can’t play outside during heavy rains, my siblings and I used to play pretending. I pretend that I’m a doctor, or a model or a Hollywood celebrity or an Architect. It was fun pretending. I could be the president of the country if I want too or a famous scientist if my playful mind does so. Oh gee, I really miss those days. Those days that we were still kids and got nothing to do but to study and play.

Now I’m older, being a grown-up is not that easy. It’s not like a paper boat that flows smoothly on rainfalls. Being a grown up has to face many responsibilities and struggle in life. I sometimes stumble, I sometimes fall, but because there are people who loves me, it makes me a stronger person.

I know, life just like the rain has its end, so let’s all make life worth living and worth loving.

Have a blessed week everyone.

The Cake Planet and Cafe

I have to thank Bley  for introducing The Cake Planet Cafe in her blog. She was so right about this coffee shop. It serves finest lavazza coffee and yummy cakes.

So last weekend, after paying a visit to my in-laws, we headed straight to Cake Planet Cafe. Upon entering , hubs and I was greeted with nice hellos  from the two barista. While I was looking at their cake rack, the barista suggested their best seller Chocolate Macadamia Sansrival and the turtle pie. I remembered, that Bley order this both. So I gave it a try.

Chocolate Macadamia Sansrival

Turle Pie

I also ordered a plate of  pasta.

I must say, they not only serve good cakes but yummy pasta too. Hubs and I shared this plate of puttanesca. The pasta was firm, the sauce was perfectly blended. Yum yum.

Oh wait…dont forget to ask for their wifi password to get connected.  (I think, there is a minimum amount of purchase before they will give the password to customers).

Of course, my 1.5 hour travel from quezon city to bicutan wouldn’t be complete if I wont have a good cup of brewed coffee

Simply heavenly…

From the love of drinking Lavazza coffee to trying their desserts,  I must say…it’s a win…win place. This totally changed the “just another coffee shop – thing” to being a regular customer, too bad  Cake Planet is too far from our place, nevertheless, I told hubz to visit it whenever we visit the in laws. :-)

Anniv Getaway – Puerto Princesa day 3

Finally, sharing the last part of our PPS trip….

For our final adventure in the beautiful island of Puerto Princesa, Palawan we went to Honda Bay – Hundo Agua meaning, like a basin of water, just a few feet shallow water then it goes deep, very deep.  It has 19 islets and mostly are known for its underwater activities like snorkeling, diving and swimming.  Various kinds and types of fish can be seen and coral reefs.

The trip to Honda bay takes about 25-30 minutes from our Hotel. We proceeded to Sta. Lourdes Wharf. There is a Tourist information center where you will pay for the entrance fee in Honda Bay and where you rent a boat.  If you don’t have snorkeling gears with you, you can also rent them there for only P150 but I suggest you bring your own snorkling gear na lang. :-)

I am so ready to explore Honday Bay….

First stop, was the Snake Island. It’s called Snake Island because it shaped like a snake when viewed from the sky. Many people love this island from all other islands in the bay because of the variety of fish found here. Hubs and I spend our time snorkling. We saw school of fish. We were able to feed them too. It was really awesome and fun.  Sayang, we don’t have underwater camera with us. It got broken during our day 2 in PPS. I should start saving to get a new underwater camera for our next summer getaway.

At around 11am we had lunch prepared for us by our Tourist Guide slash chef. :-)

A sumptous lunch. we had, Grilled pork, grilled eggplant, grilled fish and fresh fresh cucumber. So full!

Then after hefty lunch, we headed to Pandan Island.   According to our tour guide, the island is called that way because it has lots of Pandan grass that grows in the island. The place was almost surreal and peaceful. :-)

For our last stop, we headed to Pambato Coral Reef.

Pambato Reef is purely a snorkeling and fish feeding area. It’s a couple of floating platforms connected by bamboo bridges. One platform is for fish feeding and has a small store and the other one is a staging area for those wishing to do some snorkeling.

For me this was the best part of the trip. Swimming in the middle of the calm sea. away from the crowded beach with a vast coral formation for you to explore.

Overall, it was a good tiring day spending a lot of time at the beach and snorkeling in the sea. A definite must-try tour when you’re in Puerto Princesa.

Chinese Fix at North Park

I have always loved Chinese food kaya after that bad experiene with this chinese fastfood,  I was really in dismay. Why you may asked…

Because whenever I have this craving over chinese food, that Imbyerna Fastfood  is my fix. But after of that bad experience, I promised my self not to set foot on that branch (infront of farmer’s Cubao) again and slowly trying to avoid to eat in all it’s branches.  Yun na!

Anyway, as I’ve said, I would always love chinese food, kaya last week hubz and I had dinner at North Park.

Because it was raining that time, we opted to have noodles.

Left was my bowl of Nanking Beef & Aniseed Beef Tendon.   The soup is amazing. You could really taste the beef in the soup. The Nanking beef and Beef Tendon (litid) was tender and flavorful. I loved it. With this soup you could never go wrong.  The other serving was Hubz choice, Fresh Prawn Dumpling & Nanking Beef . According to him, it tasted really good. Like the noodle soup I had, he enjoyed the hefty serving. :-)

Hubz also ordered chicken feet.

Well, I am not a fan of chicken feet. So he finished everything.  Masarap siguro kasi naubos nya.

We don’t usually order any drinks except water. It added fullness sa tummy kasi but, there is this drink that captured my attention so I ordered a glass of cold Chrysanthemum Juice.

After my first sip, I just made a mental note, not to try the Cold Chrysanthemum Juice ever again, quite a waste of excitement. It tasted like brown sugar dissolved in cold water hahaha.

Then after 2 days we went back to North Park to have dinner again, I just cant get enough. This time, we had a full dinner, as in full talaga.

We had fried rice with special sauce.  I think this is the most budget-friendly item in the North Park Menu. Priced 203 pesos, it includes a huge serving of fried rice that can be good for 3 people, and the sauce to be served separate from the rice, can be your viand already. The sauce has sliced mushrooms, asado strips, fish cakes, and vegetable in there.  Actually I did not know that this would a big serving so I ordered more…takaw!

Left… is the lechon macau.  The skin was really, really crunchy and the meat was deep fried, cholesterol pero how can I resist such goodness. :-)

at the right naman  is my personal favorite Fried Beancurd Skin w/ Shitake Mushroom in Soy Sauce.   I love tofu kasi, though this dish is just like fried tofu, yun nga lang, eto yung skin ng tofu, deep fried then topped with shitake mushroom. Masarap pa rin sya sa akin. :-)

Overall, we had our tummies filled, warm, and happy. Cannot wait to comeback to try their other dishes. :-)

Imbyerna!

The best things in life are free.

True….

But….when these free stuff are  free because you were given a serving of spoiled beef noodles, I guess that is a different story. Yun na!

Tanong ko lang, hindi ba naamoy ng cook yung soup. Pag open ko pa lang ng bowl, Hubz and I smelled the spoiled broth.  Hindi pa ko nakontento, tinikman ko. Confirmed…Panis and soup nyo!  Grabe! Me sipon ka kuya cook? Hays…

I returned the bowl and asked for a replacement, when the replacement was serve to us, I talked to the manager. He asked sorry for the awful service. He gave this 2 servings of halu-halo for free. Okay fine. Buti na lang I am not masungit that time kung hindi, natalakan kita manager.

Anyway…I wont ever come back to this branch again and will try not to eat in all it’s branches. Burado na kayo sa list ko! tse!

This is a late post. This incident happened last May 18,2011.

Anniv Getaway – Puerto Princesa Day 2

One of the main reason why I picked Puerto Prinsesa as our Anniversary getaway was because of the famous Subterranean River National Park or Puerto Prinsesa Underground River.  It is one of the most important biodiversity conservation areas of the Philippines. The famous Underground River is located in the St. Paul mountain range at the North part of the city and is about an hour away from the city proper.

For our day 2 in Puerto Princesa, our itinerary was Sabang Beach and Underground River.

Kuya Egay our tour guide fetch us at the hotel around 8.00am and travel around 2 hours going to Sabang port.  Kuya Egay checked our scheduled boat ride from a list found with the pier management. We were informed that our turn to ride the banca will be at 3pm.

So Kuya Egay brought us to Sabang Beach.

we walked  Sabang Beach while enjoying the sand and sea water on our feet.

Sabang beach has nice fine sand and clear water. I enjoyed my 3 hours here.

At around 12 noon, I got tired of swimming and got hungry. We then had lunch at Taraw Resort. The lunch buffet is included in the package that I picked at the hotel.

At 2pm, we were asked by Kuya Egay to get ready for to get back at the port for our boat ride to Underground River. :-)

We rode the boat and were immediately given lifejackets. They are very strict in the use of lifejackets while onboard the boat.

A boat ride to the Underground river is consist of 10-11 person per boat including the boatman slash tour guide. Life vest and hard hats are required to wear for safety measures.

It was raining that time by the way…

The entrance to the Underground River.

a paddle boat will take the tourists inside for a 40 minute round trip up to the designated stretch and back to the cave mouth.

Nothing is heard inside the cave but light splashes of water, the low murmurs of each tourist and the voice of the boatman who also serves as the guide. he would point to us different rock formations like the holy images, some vegetables and animal shapes. and he would constantly remind us not to raise our heads and open our mouths lest droppings from numerous bats on the ceiling would find it’s way to it.

We have seen only the first 1.5 km of the cave even though it is navigable up to 8.2 km. Why only 1.5km ride? Anything more than that would require  to secure permit. The boatman said, researchers and experts usually navigate the whole stretch of the river.

Puerto Princesa’s Underground River is on the shortlist of 28 places competing to become the new 7 wonders of the natural world. After finishing the 1.5km tour I believed that it has a great chance in grabbing a slot.

Let’s help PPS Underground River to grab a slot this year.  If you haven’t voted yet, here is the link.

For a change

I love breakfast. Good breakfasts make my day right. Kaso lately I’ve been eating breakfst at Jollibee or Mcdo. Nakakasawa na. So I decided to woke up a bit early to prepare breakfast today. Minsan, minsan ko lang magawa ang mag breakfast sa house, extra effort kasi talaga ang pag gising ng mas maaga. :-)

Anyway, here is today’s breakfst – hotdogs, sunny side egg and 2 slices of wheat bread.

Worth ang pag gising ko ng mas maaga.

What is your breakfast today?
